October Walk By M.M.Wake

Autumn sits well

Riding high upon shoulders of gold

and shafts of remembered sun

Dry and dried

the berried and buried

crackle underfoot

Crisp  season, melanchol and tarnished

Hushed. Still.

Whispered branches

shadows homeward cast

dark with sky and leaf mould

A waiting moon

bathed in sad warmth

and dying light.
